Amarr just confirmed a 5% price increase on all residential and commercial garage doors. Effective date: April 27, 2026. Any order placed on or after that day gets the new pricing. No exceptions.
We work with Amarr daily. They’re one of two manufacturers we install the most across Arlington Heights, Palatine, Wheeling, and Schaumburg. So when their VP of Sales sends a price adjustment letter to every dealer in the country, I pay attention — and you should too.
Clopay moved at the same time. On March 30, they updated dealer multipliers across nearly every product line — Classic, Gallery, Coachman, Canyon Ridge, Grand Harbor, Avante, Reserve Wood, and Parts. Two manufacturers raising costs in the same week, right when spring replacement season starts. That’s not a coincidence.
What the Amarr Letter Actually Says
On March 27, Amarr’s VP of Sales Blain St. Ama sent the official notice to all dealer partners. Here’s what’s going up:
- All residential and commercial sectional doors and sections
- Commercial rolling doors and grilles
- All track, hardware, and parts
What’s NOT going up: garage door openers, gate operators, and opener accessories. Those stay at current pricing.
For residential customers, here’s the math. A standard insulated Amarr door runs $1,800–$2,200 installed. Five percent on that is $90–$110 more per door. Add track and hardware, and the total increase on a full replacement is closer to $150. That’s real money.
For commercial work, Amarr is offering a price protection window. Orders of $35,000 or more, quoted through ACE or Compass by April 26 and placed by that same date, lock in current pricing — but the door has to ship by May 26. That’s tight. If you manage a building or a fleet of dock doors in Des Plaines or Elk Grove Village, don’t wait on this.
What This Means If You Live in the Chicago Suburbs
Every spring I get the same calls. “We’ve been meaning to replace this door for two years.” That’s normal. Winter hides problems — the rust, the bent panels, the insulation that stopped working back in 2022. Then it warms up and people notice.
This year, there’s a dollar amount attached to waiting.
Your door is 10–12 years old. The bottom section has a dent. The weatherstripping is shot. You’ve been thinking about it since last fall. I hear this every week in Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove, and Schaumburg. The difference now is that the same door will cost you $100–$150 more after April 27. For two doors — a lot of suburban homes have two — that’s $200–$300 you didn’t need to spend.
The opener is a separate decision. Openers are not affected by this increase. So if you’re looking at a full combo — new door plus a new LiftMaster or Chamberlain opener — the door is the time-sensitive piece. The opener price stays the same whether you order in April or July.
The Realistic Window to Lock In Current Pricing
I want to be straight with you about lead times. Amarr’s Chicago distribution center is currently turning orders around in a day or two for stock models. Custom configurations — specific colors, window inserts, non-standard sizes — add a week, sometimes more.
If you want current pricing, the order has to be placed before April 27. Not installed. Placed. So the window to get a quote, pick your door, and submit the order is the next three weeks. I’d say realistically, call this week or next to leave yourself room.
We’re taking replacement estimates right now for April and early May installation. If you want to know the exact difference between ordering today and ordering after the 27th, I can show you both numbers on the same quote. Call us at 847-620-9249 or request a quote through our website — I’ll get back to you the same day.

FAQ
Q: How much more will an Amarr garage door cost after April 27?
A: Five percent across the board on all doors, sections, track, hardware, and parts. On a typical residential replacement in the $1,800–$2,200 range, that works out to $90–$110 more per door. A full job with track and hardware will run $130–$150 higher. According to our practice, most homeowners in Palatine and Arlington Heights replace one or two doors at a time — so multiply accordingly.
Q: Are garage door openers included in the Amarr price increase?
A: No. Amarr specifically excluded residential and commercial openers, gate operators, and all opener accessories. The increase covers doors, sections, rolling doors, grilles, track, hardware, and parts only. If you need an opener replacement, that pricing is unchanged.
Q: Can I still get current pricing if I call this week?
A: Yes — any order placed before April 27 is protected at today’s pricing. We’re scheduling quotes and installations through April and into early May right now. The sooner you call, the more flexibility we have on scheduling. Reach us at 847-620-9249 — we serve Arlington Heights, Wheeling, Buffalo Grove, Schaumburg, Des Plaines, Elk Grove Village, and the surrounding area.
